GREATER Manchester Police and Manchester City Council have been named among the most gay-friendly employers in the country.
Stonewall, the gay rights campaign group, named GMP 13th in a list of the top 100 employers.
It was the first time the force had applied to be included in the table.
Computer firm IBM was voted first and Manchester city council came third, the same as last year. The force scored highly in 20 questions posed by Stonewall, impressing judges with the way the force had appointed an assistant chief constable, Rob Taylor, to consider the issue.
